Managing Director, Mel Randall, reflects on a particularly productive 2022 at Design Reality, the award-winning product design agency.
2022 has certainly been a full-on year at Design Reality.
We’ve been to 16 exhibitions, welcomed four new members to the team, expanded our additive manufacturing capabilities, launched a new product licensing service and won an impressive six awards!
But a particular highlight for me personally is how much we’ve been able to accomplish in promoting industrial design and electronic engineering education. To encourage tomorrow’s brightest minds, today.
This year alone we formalised our partnership with Wrexham Glyndwr University – contributing to their new degree course, sponsored the West Cheshire & North Wales Chamber of Commerce’s young people programme and held workplace tours for local schools. Not to mention our wonderful student placement designer, Ollie Williamson, from Loughborough University.
In recognition of our contributions to the STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) we were even nominated for two awards in the Welsh STEM Awards: one of which we won too!
But it’s not just our relationships in the education sector we’ve been building in 2022. We’ve also developed stronger ties with MediWales, the West Cheshire & North Wales Chamber of Commerce and the Welsh Government to name just a few.
And what does the future hold?
I’m expecting 2023 to be another exciting year of growth for DR as we look to finish a number of exciting product design projects and make a start on many, many more!
