Our History

Our Journey

Founded in 2000, we started Design Reality with the sole purpose of developing products that are as beautiful in function as in form. Products that add true value to their users, and deliver genuine real-life benefits.

Since then, we have continued to be relentlessly customer-focused, dedicated to delivering design solutions for the real world. Whoever the end user is – a nurse, a patient, a soldier, a firefighter, a doctor, or a supermarket shopper – we have consistently put their lives and needs at the heart of everything we do, from first concept to final production. We strive to lead our industry demonstrating that innovation can change everything.

Scott Sight

2016 saw the launch of Scott Sight – the award winning, hands-free, in-mask, thermal imaging system, providing unrivalled situational intelligence for firefighters.

While our products have won many awards for their innovations in design; in 2016 we won as a business too: the 3rd best design consultancy in the UK in Design Week’s Top 100 consultancy survey.

The RPE Experts

Despite the pandemic, 2021 was a year of tremendous growth for Design Reality. We won awards, expanded our premises and saw many long-term projects hit the market.

But perhaps the biggest development of the year, was joining the Full Support Group family – a conglomeration of companies specialising in the manufacture, education, supply (and now design/development) of Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE).

While this involved some organisational over-sight changes, Design Reality remains an independent Design Consultancy and continues to work with companies around the world to create and develop truly innovative products in the medical, industrial, consumer and defense sectors.

Made in Wales

In the past few years, we have seen a great increase in demand for goods to be made in Britain. In response, we have expanded our in-house manufacturing capabilities, setting up two new assembly and packing sites at our base in North Wales, specifically for mass production.

To facilitate this growth, we’ve had to grow our team too; with new specialist Workshop Technicians, Production Operatives, Product Designers and Directors all joining the ranks from the area – local jobs for local people.

This expansion means we can now take clients through the whole production cycle – from concept, to design, to prototyping, to full-scale manufacturing.
