Design Reality – the multi-award-winning industrial design consultancy agency based in St Asaph, Wales – has appointed Rhydian Williams to be the new Electronics Engineering Manager.
This newly created role will see Rhydian take on responsibility for leading the existing engineering team at Design Reality, overseeing the development of cutting-edge electronic and software products for their clients. The Electronics Engineering Manager will also act as a conduit between the mechanical designers and electronics/software engineers to promote a cohesive product design experience as the company grows.
Rhydian Williams, the successful applicant, was promoted internally from his previous role as Electronics Engineer, having worked at Design Reality for over 3 and a half years.
“Since joining Design Reality I have predominantly been involved in designing electronic Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs), writing firmware and guiding the manufacturing of PCBAs. PCBs are a vital part of many products we create at Design Reality – from coffee cups to sport therapy devices – allowing for the integration of computerised features.
“Having an in-house software and electronic engineering team has proven to be invaluable for many of our clients. Not only does it allow for their product visions to be realised, keeping all of the designing under one roof saves them time and money throughout the production process.
Rhydian has only been in the role for one month so far, but is already making a great impact in his new role.
“We already have a great team of skilled, experienced engineers and tools for in-house PCB production – so my initial focus in the role is communication.
“As the Electronics Engineering Manager I’m getting involved with customer discussions much earlier in the process – which is allowing us to explore new and exciting functions and capabilities that clients might otherwise not have known would be possible.”
