As an award winning industrial design company based in St Asaph, we go to great lengths to promote both our Welsh heritage and the furthering of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) in our community. This not only includes expanding our services to incorporate Welsh production, but also working with local businesses, schools, hospitals and universities to share our expertise and further solidify Wales as a centre of STEM education excellence.
Made in Wales
For over twenty years we have been providing industrial design, electrical engineering and software development services to companies across the world, turning their designs into reality. But this last year we expanded our offering to incorporate the whole product design phase with two new Welsh production sites for manufacturing and packaging. In addition to our original team of Designers, Engineers and Developers, we now employ a team of Technicians and Production Operatives – local jobs for local people.
Higher education
For many years, we have run a paid annual student design placement; but this year we’ve gone a step further and partnered with Wrexham Glyndwr University to co-develop their BA Product Design Degree course. As well as input into the syllabus of the course, we will be offering student mentoring and additional placement opportunities for the students to provide local STEM students with real life industry experience.
Inspiring the future
To help inspire the next generation of scientists, technicians, engineers and mathematicians, we are also in talks with Prestatyn High School, Denbighshire, to arrange pupil tours of our 3 facilities in North Wales. Here they’ll see product design, additive manufacturing, software development, electrical engineering and local manufacturing in action.
Working together with local business
While we have worked closely on projects with other Welsh organisations for many years, such as the design and production of 3d printed accessible door handles for the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, this year we joined the West Cheshire & North Wales Chamber of Commerce. In addition to nurturing a closer relationship with other local businesses in the area, we look forward to sharing our knowledge and expertise in the field to further the STEM sector in Wales.
